DPN Treatment

What is Dermatosis Papulosa Nigra (DPN)?

Dermatosis Papulosa Nigra (DPN) is a common, benign skin condition that typically appears as small, dark, raised spots on the face, neck, chest, and back. It is most prevalent in individuals with darker skin tones and is considered a variant of seborrheic keratosis. While DPN is harmless, many people choose to have these spots removed for cosmetic reasons or to improve their skin's overall appearance

Why Consider DPN Treatment?

Although DPN does not pose any medical risks, the appearance of these spots can sometimes cause discomfort or self-consciousness. Large or multiple lesions, especially in cosmetically sensitive areas like the face, may impact confidence. Our DPN treatment services are designed to safely and effectively remove these spots, helping you achieve smoother, clearer skin and renewed confidence.

How Does DPN Treatment Work?

Our treatments utilize direct high frequency energy that only targets superficial imperfections to safely and effectively treat these growths while minimizing discomfort and downtime. Other common methods include:

  • Electrosurgery: A precise technique that uses heat to remove the lesions.

  • Cryotherapy: Freezing the spots with liquid nitrogen for removal.

  • Laser Therapy: A non-invasive option that targets and removes the spots with precision.

Is DPN removal permanent?

While DPN treatment will remove or reduce visible lesions, it does not change the genetic predisposition to develop DPN, and patients treated for DPN will develop new lesions over time which will eventually require additional treatments to remove.

What is the DPN treatment process?

Prior to your DPN treatment, a consultation is required to assess the extent of DPN lesions as well as ensure that you are an appropriate candidate for treatment. [Treatments are only done on the face, neck, back and chest.] Prior to the treatment session a topical numbing cream is applied to the treatment area and left on for 20-30 minutes. During treatment individual lesions are treated to a clinical endpoint. Over a 4–7-day period after treatment, treated lesions will dry out and fall off. During this initial post care period proper skincare is essential for optimal healing and results. You will be provided detailed aftercare instructions.

How much does DPN removal cost?

The fee for the initial consultation is complimentary. Initial treatment fees for DPN are priced in 30-minute increments starting at $275. Depending on the number of DPNs present and the size of the overall area to be treated, you may need additional treatments or may opt for a longer treatment time. Touch up treatments are typically at a reduced rate compared to the initial treatment fee.
